Most countries in the world have the ritual of ‘keening’ in their repertoires now increasingly being recognised as important for people’s healing from grief; ‘Caoineadh’ in Gaelic Scotland and ‘Doina’ in Romania. Monica Lucia Madas (Monooka) and Allan MacDonald will share some songs and tunes from their respective traditions in Romanian and Gaelic.
